Mission Statement

Computer Education Techniques develops resources for teaching information technology software to client organization employees; this includes the student handouts used in SYS-ED courses and training programs. Since 2000, CETi has been applying the New York State Department of Education - Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision standards to its website infrastructure operations: transparency, advertising in the public domain, course catalog, administrative forms, curriculum design, lesson plans, and reporting.  The United States SBA: Small Business Administration requirements - 15 U.S. C 645(d) are being applied to the website content 1. The original Open Ratings Past Performance Evaluation will be updated.

The transitioning and expansion of the CETi business model is driven by empirical research in conjunction with course work performed at Cornell University School of Business and Public Administration. Algorithms and mathematical modeling will be used with open source ML: learning software. Digital resources and services will be available to accredited academia facing challenges in providing quality information technology training with budgetary constraints: trade schools, junior colleges, community colleges, colleges, and universities.

Experience and Expertise

Formed in 1982, Computer Education Techniques purchased SYS-ED, the training services division of Integrated Computer Software. We have expertise in coding and teaching information technology subject matter in a variety of fields, industries, and applications. This includes uncovering errors and omissions in the vendor documentation and improved ways of designing and coding systems. Subject matter is categorized; course titles with duration, audience, and major topics can be reviewed using the CETi course search engine.

The base CETi information technology student handout is chapter/lesson, performance objectives, examples, workshop objectives, exercises, and index. Appointments can be scheduled by e-mail from the computeredech.com website for reviewing student handouts, textbook extensions, and additional component courseware in these training programs:

Programming Languages Assembler, C, C++, COBOL, Fortran, Java, PL/1, and REXX
Database Platforms IBM Db2 and Oracle Database
IBM Mainframe Environment Programming Skills, VSAM, CICS Transaction Server, and IMS Transaction Server
IBM WebSphere and Java Platform IBM WebSphere, IBM Db2 for Java Programmers, Rational Application Development, and Oracle Java Development
Microsoft Windows and .NET Platform ASP, SQL Server, VB.NET, and C#

CETi instructors have multiple skillsets: expert programmer-practitioners, technologists, academic degrees - in computer science and business administration, and source software certified.

Standard Services

Computer Education Techniques aggregates computer software in the public domain: web browsers, applications, operating systems, programming languages, development tools, and databases. Software is downloaded; sample code and programs are reviewed. Online help and source documentation are evaluated: readability, completeness, self-study, problem resolution, and reference. It is compared to information on commercial software company and open source purveyor websites and its value in preparing for certification.

The by-product is derivative courseware and training aids which reflect the changes and advancements in the software industry: co-existence and interoperability with established and new generations of commercial and open source software: mobile device platforms, cloud computing, Big Data, and IOT: Internet of Things. Textbooks are reviewed and extended with instructor notes, sample programs, and case studies. In areas of information technology where there is a scarcity of textbooks, courseware and training aids are created.

CETi also teaches and provides instructor placement for qualified third party organizations. CETi and technology partners will be offering a course schedule. Not everyone will be allowed to enroll in these courses; this builds upon the pre enrollment requirements by the New York State Department of Education - Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision for computer applications, UNIX/Linux, mainframe, and Java.

Demographics - Education and Information Technology

Computer Education Techniques is applying its experience in instructor training and developing information technology courseware to address these challenges:

  • Quality of information technology instruction.
  • Cost and time associated with traveling to a brick and mortar classroom.
  • Cost and value of information technology textbooks and short shelf life.
  • Cost of tuition/credit hour for information technology courses - college and universities.
  • The value and cost savings associated with using open source software in place of and in conjunction with proprietary software.
  • Teacher resources and support services.

Online Education - Instructional Design

Computer Education Techniques has been evaluating the issues in online education and selectively developing resources which address challenges in teaching information technology. CETi is implementing a multi-stage process for improving courseware inputs to be offered through accredited academia for student populations: cost reduction, personalized learning, scalability to larger audiences, and measurable client/student learning outcomes.

This is the work in progress:

A technology driven infrastructure will be central to CETi training services. The instructional design initially is being applied to the IBM mainframe environment, programming languages, and databases. These are areas where there is no NRV: Nationally Recognized Vendor with few up to date textbooks, and minimal certification. There are plans for curriculum expansion and increasing the courses to be offered through a web-based delivery medium.

Cognitive Search

Computer Education Techniques, Inc. is developing a cognitive search capability for making digital information technology subject matter available for use by third parties: accredited academia, Fortune 1000 companies, government municipalities, and healthcare providers. It will include textbook extensions, training aids, courseware, strategic learning paths, and programming techniques: methodologies, design, debugging, and performance.

There also will be a reviewer service. It will identify free and low cost information technology resources available for self-study: base courses, advanced topics, extra practice, and specialized training. Some information technology subject matter only should be taught by the source commercial software companies and open source purveyors.

Moneticization of digital content is predicated upon the assumption that CETi resources will facilitate or improve mastery of subject matter and that there is a measurable return on investment demonstrated by performing information technology tasks and client organization project work. The deliverables, cost, and content needs to be aligned: academic standard readability and usability that the client/student is qualified as being able to learn. Internet based systems for assessing mastery of subject matter is under development.
