DATES:

 CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. Installation
      • Copy the WAS: WebSphere Application Server fileset onto an Intel workstation.
      • Perform a standard WAS installation, including the executables and profiles.
      • Examine the error logs; the instructor will review and resolve any problems.
      • WAS will be configured in a subsequent exercise.
    2. Configuration
      • Given a Java application, create an EAR and deploy the application.
    3. Starting the Server
      • Use wsadmin to implement enterprise application configurations and manage WebSphere Application Server.
      • Create and install a web server default front page.
    4. Server Configuration
      • Configure HTTP session persistence and define a session database.
    5. Setting Up a Secure Server
      • Use the LDAP user registry to configure WebSphere security.
      • Enable SSL: Secure Sockets Layer for the WebSphere Application Server.
    6. Administration
      • Configure an enterprise application for workload management.
    7. JEE
      • Install and configure an EJB.
      • Test the EJB using WAS tools.
    8. Web Server Customization
      • Code a script that will create virtual hosts in WebSphere.
    9. Application Server Customization
      • Examine the code of a simple servlet.
      • Examine the code of a simple JSP program.
      • Configure WAS for supporting access to a database.
    10. Testing and Debugging
      • Test and debug a servlet using WAS tools and logs.
      • Test and debug a JSP program using WAS tools: servlets, EJB, and logs.
    11. Network of Application Servers
      • Create and configure a distributed network of WebSphere servers.
    12. ASTK: Application Server Toolkit
      • Use Application Server Toolkit to implement a JEE extension which allows for the session object to be shared across the multiple servlet contexts inside a single enterprise application.
    13. Administering Session Management
      • Use the WAS tools to enable sessions, cookies and URL rewriting.
