CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. MS SQL Server: Planning and Installation
      • Install SQL Server using two different techniques.
    2. Upgrade Advisor
      • Run the Upgrade Advisor against an existing SQL Server instance.
    3. Database Creation and Maintenance
      • Query the system database for information on objects.
      • Create a database, tables, indexes, views, users, referential integrity on tables, and constraints.
      • The instructor will designated the other objects to be created.
    4. Replication
      • Setup a Central Publishing replication model.
    5. Resource Governor
      • Set quotas for accessing tables based on resources used and the time of the day.
    6. Data Management Tasks
      • Backup and recover a table.
      • Backup and recover an entire database.
    7. Common Commands
      • Code and invoke basic PowerShell scripts.
      • Use commands for invoking SQL statements.
    8. Automating Administrative Tasks
      • Code and invoke PowerShell scripts to perform administrative tasks.
      • Utilize the SQL Provider and SQL cmdlets.
    9. AlwaysOn Availability
      • Configure AlwaysOn to provide alerts for the system staff.
    10. Creating the Windows Cluster
      • Configure SQL Server for database mirroring and testing failover from the principle to the mirror.
    11. Compression
      • Create table data and indexes with ROW level and another identical table with PAGE level; then compare the results.
    12. Securing SQL Server 2012
      • Configure security for these securables; login, server role, and database.
    13. FileTable Solutions
      • Store files and documents within SQL Server FileTables.
      • Access the files from a MS Window application as if they were stored in the file system.
      • This is done without making any changes to the client applications.
    14. Contained and Noncontained Databases
      • Create a database isolated from other databases and from the instance of SQL Server that hosts the database.
    15. Performance Bottlenecks
      • Isolate performance issues and perform the steps to locate and resolve the issue.
