   • Instructor to demonstrate and examine programs for: 1- Creating and populating a table. 2- Data retrieval. 3- Generalizing connection information. 4- Using executeUpdate(). 5- Selecting data and presenting information. 6- Using prepared statements. 7- Handling SQLExceptions and SQLWarnings. 8- Using transactions. 9- Using batch updates. 10- Paging with scrollable ResultSets.
3. JDBC Steps
   • Use two different techniques to write and develop code to run Dynamic SQL.
4. JDBC Performance Extensions
   • Oracle performance extensions to the JDBC: Java Database Connectivity standard reduce the number of round trips to the database.
   • Improve application performance by grouping multiple UPDATE, DELETE, or INSERT statements into a single batch which is sent and processed to the database.
5. JDBC Optional Package and JDBC in Web Applications
   • Create an instance of a connection cache class that has an associated group of pooled connection instances.
   • Use the connection cache to improve JDBC performance.
   • Embedding SQL statements in Java code.
   • Implement modifications to a SQLJ program to generate static SQL.
6. JDBC Advanced Topics
   • The Oracle JPublisher utility is used for creating custom object classes and Java classes.
   • Use Oracle JPublisher to generate a full definition for a custom Java class which can be instantiated to hold the data from an Oracle object.
7. Developing and Deploying Stored Procedures in Java
   • Code stored procedures in both PL/SQL and Java.
   • Stored procedures are Java methods published to SQL and stored in the database for general use.
   • Write the call specifications required for publishing Java methods which can map Java method names, parameter types, and return types to their SQL counterparts.
   • Test and invoke the stored procedures.
   • Deploy the stored procedures which have multiple types of parameters.
8. JPublisher
   • Examine the JPublisher-generated classes and methods for: 1- Converting data from SQL to Java and from Java to SQL. 2- Getter and setter methods for the object attributes.
