Introduction
Review the main functions provided by FM/CICS: 1- View or edit CICS resources. 2- List CICS resources and change their status and attributes.
Examine how FM/CICS base tools and utilities can be used against FM/CICS resources; thereby obviating the need for ISPF.
Issuing Commands
Display the full version information.
Display the level of connected CICS systems.
Setting the default processing options.
Specify a dataset and a member name.
View CICS VSAM files that have browse and read access.
Edit a CICS VSAM files that have update access.
Full editing capability (inserts and deletes) is available for KSDS files that have add and delete attributes.
Viewing and Changing CICS Resources
Edit temporary storage; the name of the existing queue will be provided by the instructor.
Create a new TS queue and enter data into the queue.
Edit CICS files.
View and edit a CICS resource with a number of formats.
Use a copybook or template to provide a logical view of the dataset; the logical view describes the field format of the records.
Use a template to select the records that are to be displayed: 1- Select the fields to be displayed. 2- Select how the fields are to be formatted. 3- Display the formatted fields.
Working with FM/CICS Utilities
Display the print output in full-screen mode.
Print a CICS resource.
Print a CICS resource with the FM utility.
Browse an Editor session from a display list.
Initiate an FM/CICS Browse Editor session from a display list.
Sort a CICS Selection list.
Use the SORT primary command to sort a CICS selection list.
Except for the line command field and status columns, a CICS selection list can be sorted by any two fields displayed on the selection list.
CICS Enqueues
Display the List CICS Resources Entry panel to locate more information about the CICS enqueue.
FM/CICS Primary Commands
Enter primary commands on the command-line.
