Application Performance Analyzer
Use the primary and line commands.
Navigate Application Performance Analyzer to examine the interface and featureset.
Use report navigation.
From the Observation Session List, determine the status of the Observation Session Requests.
Define a new measurement and a threshold measurement.
Performance Analysis Reports
Initiate a new Observation Session Request.
Use the “MOD” line command to modify an existing measurement request.
Obtain DDF data by measuring the Db2 DDF address space (xxxxDIST) with the Db2 extractor turned on.
Generate a schedule for repetitions of future measurements.
Measurement Profile Reports
Review the observation results for the data being recorded which describes the System State being observed.
Jump between reports during analysis.
Obtain an overview of the measurement profile; when analyzing a measurement, this should be examined first.
Examine and analyze CPU and DASD usage.
Examine DASD VSAM statistics.
CICS Performance Analysis Reports
In order to initiate an Observation Request, set the CICS data extractor to an on state.
Examine a summary of the CICS related activity which occurred in the region during the Observation Session.
Review the in-flight transaction for each sampling interval.
Determine the state information.
Db2 Performance Analysis Reports
Display SQL Statement text and the most active Db2 plans.
When the Observation Request is entered, set the Db2 data extractor to on.
Display the most active SQL and the most CPU intensive plans.
Review the Db2 activity timeline.
Review SQL wait time reports.
Display and review the Db2 EXPLAIN Report.
Realtime Monitor
Use the Realtime Monitor facility to display different views of the measurement data.
Use the SETUP command to change the default options.
Obtain a high level overview of observed resource usage; set it to autorefresh mode.
Display Data Management Service Time in two modes: 1- In ACCUM mode, it will display the files for which EXCPs have been processed. 2- In CURRENT mode, it will display the EXCPs which have been processed since the last data refresh.
