CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. Introduction
      • Examine the Syncsort functions.
      • Job control languages.
      • Analyze the benefits of MAXSORT and Tape Sort.
    2. Syncsort Control Statements
      • List and analyze the function of Syncsort commands.
    3. Data Utility Features
      • Select input records.
      • Select relevant fields.
      • Combine records within a file.
      • Divide a report into sections.
      • Write headers and trailers for a report.
      • Implement the totaling and subtotaling of data.
    4. PARM Options
      • Specify PARM options using PARM or a special DD.
    5. Initiating Syncsort through JCL
      • Code JCL and control cards to generate multiple output files.
    6. Invoking Syncsort from a Program
      • Examine a sample COBOL program.
      • The client can specify an alternative legacy mainframe language.
    7. Coding and Use of Exit Programs
      • Load the exit routines into main storage.
    8. Tape Sort
      • Initiate a tape sort using JCL and control streams.
    9. Performance Considerations
      • Tune the main storage allocations.
      • Utilize the main storage calculation formulas.
    10. Utility Programs
      • Use the replacement for variable-length record analysis - HISTOGRM.
    11. Data Editing
      • Selection and formatting of records.
      • Selecting input records based on comparisons between fields or between fields and constants.
      • Reformat and edit input/output records.
