DATES:

CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. Introduction
      • During the life of a job, VSE/POWER and the base control program of z/VSE control different phases of the overall processing.
      • Examine and analyze the RDR queue and its content.
      • Code a simple JCL JOB.
    2. z/VSE System
      • Examine the major types of storage used by z/VSE.
      • Understand the concept of virtual storage and its utilization in z/VSE.
      • Recognize the relationship among pages, frames, and page dataset.
    3. VSE/POWER
      • Code commands for receiving jobs into the operating system, the scheduling of processing by z/VSE, and controlling output processing.
    4. Job Flow in a VSE System
      • Run a series of jobs and review the output.
    5. z/VSE JCL, JECL and Utilities
      • Allocate a new VSAM dataset, load the dataset, and print extracts of the data.
      • Sort an existing dataset and then print the sorted version.
