Different types of statements in COBOL.
Code the Elements of the COBOL Divisions
Code a program to display your name on a SYSOUT listing.
Enter statements with syntax errors and review the source listing error messages.
Code Basic Input/Output Statements
Input instream data and echo the records to SYSOUT.
Code Arithmetic Statements
Calculate and output payroll information including gross payroll, FICA, taxes, and net payroll.
Code Data Movement Statements
Enter claim information from a file and assign the individual fields to a structure.
Code an IF Statement
Verify the claims file content; ensure that the individual fields have accepted numeric and value ranges.
Code an EVALUATE Statement
Translate a code into a description.
For example, have MD display as Maryland.
Code a Simple PERFORM Statement
Organize a program into paragraphs that are invoked using a PERFORM.
Comment and document each of the paragraphs.
Use the PERFORM to loop through a paragraph until a condition is detected.
Use the PERFORM to loop a variable number of times.
Code a Simple Read/Write Program
Input data from a QSAM dataset and process an end of file condition.
Reformat the input data.
Write the newly formatted data to a QSAM file.
At job end, display statistics of the input and output number of records.
Applying Structured Techniques
Given a poorly written program, rewrite the code using structured techniques.
Code WORKING-STORAGE Entries
Define record descriptions based datatypes and usage.
Code a multi-level structure containing numeric, character, and pointer information.
