DATES:

CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. Introduction
      • Create FILE commands and record layout for two files: 1- An automobile rentals master dataset. 2- Customer dataset.
      • Code the procedure.
    2. System Overview
      • List the phases of program operations.
    3. Basic Programming
      • Print multiple automobile listings sorted by various fields.
      • Select only cars that have: 1- Low mileage. 2- Automatic transmissions. 3- Built-in GPS unit.
      • Code complex extraction criteria using ANDs and ORs.
      • Calculate the amount of fuel charge based on the mileage; print out the bill.
      • Invoke a fuel charge calculation routine which will be coded and tested by the students.
      • Code a routine to format a detail line.
    4. Printing Reports
      • Print reports with headings, footings, report title, and summary page.
      • Print a report with logic for every other line printed.
      • Create a detail report for sales.
      • Create a summary report for sales.
      • Create a detail/summary report for sales.
      • Code a report with multiple breaks: 1- Print special eye catchers after every break. 2- Perform additional calculations at a break.
      • Code an array for storing sales and customer statistics to be reported as quarterly data.
    5. Macro, Defines, and Masks
      • Code, debug and test a simple macro for formatting a data item.
    6. Processing and Logic
      • Populate and search an array.
    7. Reports
      • Code a routine that passes values, performs chargeback calculations, and returns multiple values.
      • Print a report on special preprinted paper.
    8. Input/Output
      • Perform a match/merge on the automobile and customer datasets.
      • Print a joined report.
    9. File Processing
      • Bypass auto I/O processing and sequentially read a file.
      • Read two files into the program; retrieve data from a Db2 table.
