CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. CICS/Db2 Interface
      • Examine CICS and Db2 attachment facility.
      • Analyze the relationship between CICS and Db2.
    2. Overview of Commands: DSNC
      • Use the DSNC to monitor Db2 under CICS.
      • Monitor thread usage, plan information, and display statistics.
    3. CICS/Db2 Connection
      • Optimize the CICS/Db2 connection.
      • Determine the appropriate combination of DB2CONN, DB2ENTRY, and BIND options.
    4. Authorization and Security
      • Recognize the security concerns when changing the system interface to Db2.
      • Inquire on, modify, create or discard DB2CONN, DB2ENTRY and DB2TRAN resource definitions.
    5. Application Design Guidelines
      • Define a locking strategy for an online real-time system.
      • Develop procedures to handle different BIND options for different plans.
      • The procedures should be able to handle changes in BIND options for the same plan over time.
    6. Performance
      • Design CICS applications based upon numerous small plans and have the plan selected dynamically at execution time.
