DATES:

CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. CICS Concepts and Facilities
      • Handling large numbers of users simultaneously.
      • Create specifications for a BMS mapset.
    2. Task and Program Services
      • Create a design document for an online transaction processing system.
      • Develop a modular pseudo conversational program.
    3. Command Level Programming
      • Code a simple program invoked through CICS.
      • Code a simple query type program using pseudo conversational programming techniques.
      • The program will need to handle standard errors and exception processing.
    4. Handling Exceptional Conditions
      • Design and code the menu program.
      • Create the BMS mapset and symbolic map for the menu program.
    5. Basic Mapping Support
      • Code and test BMS macros.
      • Code, test, and assemble a map.
      • Create a DSECT and a symbolic map.
    6. Program Control
      • How terminal handling techniques are used to associate memory with a terminal.
      • Passing data between programs storing user memory in the terminal control area.
    7. File Control
      • Write and test a data entry program that includes: 1- Field editing. 2- Logical editing. 3- Highlighting of incorrect fields. 4- Cursor placement. 5- Output processing. 6- Application error capture.
    8. Temporary Storage
      • Temporary storage concepts.
      • Working with temporary storage queues.
      • The use of a temporary storage queue with a maintenance program.
    9. Transient Data
      • Enter data into a transient queue for remote printing.
    10. Debugging
      • Use CEDF, InterTest, or Xpediter to assist in the testing of the program.
