DATES:

CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. ASP.NET and Servlets
      • The relationship between JSP and the server.
      • The relationship between JSP and Java servlets.
    2. Servlets
      • Code a servlet that communicates with a JSP program.
      • HttpServletRequest interface is associated with the request; it provides the capability to look at the: 1- Request parameters using getParameter. 2- Request type with GET, POST, HEAD. 3- The incoming HTTP headers with cookies and Referer.
      • Get the parameters passed into the JSP application.
      • HttpServletResponse interface is the HttpServletResponse associated with the response to the client; since the output stream is buffered, the HTTP status codes and response headers can be set.
      • Once any output has been sent to the client, this will not be permitted in regular servlets.
    3. Simple JSPs
      • Code a simple JSP program for displaying system information.
    4. Request-Time Expressions
      • Code a request-time expression and use request-time predefined variables in the HTML.
    5. Language Elements
      • Code editing logic and medium complex logic in the JSP using a number of the languages constructs.
    6. Creating JSPs
      • Code a JSP which invokes another JSP and provides inter JSP communication.
    7. Using Beans
      • Create a JavaBean to process data from a textbox; invoke the bean using JSP.
      • Code additional logic to the bean created in the previous exercise; invoke the bean using JSP passing data back and forth.
    8. Database Connectivity
      • Access a database which will accept data from the ASP.NET document and insert or update the database.
